The 2019 Ram 1500 Is Here!
We’ve been salivating over the 2019 Ram 1500 since last winter when it was first announced, and it’s FINALLY here.
Just in case you haven’t been following along as closely as we have here at Hebert’s Town & Country Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we’re here to give you an overview of the biggest changes from 2018 to 2019!
For starters, the truck has lost 225 pounds. It’s got a new frame made of 98% high strength steel and that’s partly why the 2019 Ram 1500 is so much lighter. The frame not only lightened the truck, but it makes it more rigid and durable, which lends to better handling.
The 2019 Ram 1500 has a maximum payload of 2,300 and can tow up to 12,750 pounds. This is up from the 2018 model which tows up to 10,620 pounds and has a max payload of 1,880 pounds.
If it’s drag you’re worried about, you don’t have to because the 2019 Ram 1500 is the most aerodynamic pickup truck in its segment. This is all thanks to a .357 drag coefficient along with grille shutters, air dam and air suspension.
Now let’s talk power. There’s a new hybrid system on the 2019 Ram 1500’s current powertrains. The eTorque Mild Hybrid System improves fuel efficiency on the second generation of the 3.6L Pentastar V6 and 5.7L HEMI V8 engines, while allowing for better drivability, performance, towing capabilities and payload. The eTorque system joins a 48-volt battery pack with a belt-drive motor generator to allow for start/stop function, brake energy regeneration and short-term torque assist.
With eTorque, the standard 3.6L V6 gives 305 horsepower and 269 lb.-ft. of torque. With eTorque on the 5.7L HEMI, the truck gets 395 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque.
New look for the 2019 Ram 1500
Looking at this truck, it’s obvious that it’s had some major aesthetic changes. The headlights are slimmer and wider and come in both LEDs and halogens. All models feature “RAM” on the grille as the crosshair grille is no more. Some models also feature a updated chiseled Ram’s head logo on the grille as well as the tailgate.
The tech for the 2019 Ram 1500 has been upgraded too. The fourth-generation Uconnect 4C is available and it has the following:
• 12-inch reconfigurable touchscreen display with split-screen capability for dual-application operation
• SiriusXM Guardian with 360L
• 360-degree Surround View Camera with bird’s eye perspective
• Multifunction USB ports
• Available wireless charging
• Harman Kardon audio system with 19 premium speakers, 900-watt surround sound amplifier, 10-inch subwoofer and active noise cancellation
• Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
• Available navigation
