SELECT YOUR NEW DODGE

Electric vehicles have become more desirable in recent years and the trend is growing. As the auto industry makes this turn, Dodge has also taken a front seat to meet the demands of the eco-friendly, earth-conscious driver. However, Dodge believes that electric vehicles should also be fast vehicles that deliver high performance. Dodge is even saying goodbye to the Challenger and Charger as we know them and making moves toward speed that’s electrified. This big move includes the all-new Dodge Hornet that will sit comfortably in the compact SUV segment, which is a first in a long time for the muscle car brand. It will be featured as both an R/T plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and a gas-powered GT.

The Dodge Hornet has a long history. It takes its name from the famed Hudson Hornet that landed on the Nascar Hall of Fame “Fabulous Top 10 List.” If you’ve seen the Pixar movie “Cars,” you’ll remember the character Doc Hornet, a retired racecar once known as the Hudson Hornet.

Exterior

The Dodge Hornet may be a compact SUV, but it will still look every bit like a Dodge. The hood features integrated heat extractors while the front fascia also incorporates a “mail slot” style grille opening. The “mail slot” reinforces the horizontal brow of the upper grille and lamp graphics. Flanked by two smaller inserts, these design elements boast performance and functionality while also presenting a muscular front-end appearance.

The 2023 Hornet has an Abyss painted, matte black molded, lower cladding and rear valance with dual exhaust ports for added style and to give it a muscular look. The headlamps have LED reflectors and illuminated daytime running lights making this Dodge hard to miss when rolling down the road.

At the rear, the 2023 Dodge Hornet’s identity really shines. The taillamp goes across the whole width of the vehicle and features a lighted red signature, as well as an illuminated Dodge Rhombi logo boldly in the center. If you’re wondering, the Rhombi logo is the one that looks like two backslashes – //. The logo is everywhere on Dodge materials except for its vehicles. This is the first time the Rhombi logo has been used on a Dodge car, and it helps identify the Hornet from others in its lineup. Plus, the illuminated taillamp and Rhombi logo are also a subtle reminder of the Hornet R/T PHEV’s electrifying performance.

The Hornet R/T comes standard with eye-popping 18-inch Graphite Grey alloy wheels and the GT comes standard with 17-inch silver alloy wheels.

Interior

Dodge designed the 2023 Hornet to be more than a ride; it’s an experience. It has the same high-performance feel and look as its relatives but Dodge made the Hornet the most technologically advanced vehicle in its lineup. The Hornet has center stack controls and display screens that are slightly tilted towards the driver, bringing the driver closer to the action.

The 2023 Dodge Hornet has a best-in-class 12.3-inch digital cluster screen (the one behind the wheel where all the gauges are) and a 10.25-inch center touchscreen. These give the Hornet more than 22.5 total inches of display screens!

The Hornet’s Uconnect 5 infotainment system comes standard on both trims. It offers the following:

  • A personalizable home screen with separate profiles
  • Dual-connected phone profile support
  • Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
  • Access to vehicle settings, including EV pages for R/T
  • Amazon Alexa

The Hornet has an audio system that’s out of this world! It comes with the Harman Kardon premium sound system that kicks out 465 watts through its 15 speakers and subwoofer.

You’ll see red stitching throughout the interior of the Hornet and it really pops against the black cabin. The vents and center switches are styled up with accents that give the interior a smooth, hi-tech appearance.

Powertrain

The Dodge Hornet R/T PHEV offers 285-plus horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque with its 1.3-liter turbocharged engine and six-speed automatic transmission. The R/T also has a Sport mode. Sport Mode is activated by a button that’s conveniently located on the center console and it enhances the Hornet’s torque and power. The R/T PHEV also packs a powerful sting in reverse with the PowerShot feature that delivers a 25-horsepower boost with instant torque. Drivers can also select from three hybrid driving modes to adjust the Hornet R/T, for a more personal driving experience.

Hybrid Mode – Hybrid Mode minimizes fuel consumption by using electric power until the battery reaches its minimum level.

Electric Mode – This mode is all-electric with zero emissions. It automatically shifts to hybrid power when the battery is low.

E-Save Mode –This mode gives power to the conventional engine to save battery life.

The Hornet R/T offers more than 30 miles of all-electric range with its 90kW electric motor that produces 184 lb.-ft. of torque.

The Hornet R/T PHEV also utilizes regenerative braking that recaptures kinetic energy and stores it in the battery for future use. It also has an e-Coasting function, allowing the Hornet to stop at shorter distances while recovering more energy.

The 2023 Dodge Hornet GT engine is powered by the Hurricane4, a four-cylinder turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, and a fully electronic nine-speed transmission. It is fine-tuned to produce more than 265 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque.

The 2023 Dodge Hornet GT is open for orders and will reach our showroom in December 2022. The Hornet R/T will be arriving in spring 2023.
