NEW MODELS JEEP INTRODUCED IN THE 2010s
The 2010s was a glorious decade for Jeep despite the Chrysler Corporation hitting economic bottom with the auto industry crisis earlier in the decade, then having to partake in the infamous federal government bailout in 2011. Jeep held on tight and brave the economic storm and had a record-breaking global sales increase in 2016. A whopping 1.41 million units sold worldwide! Within that decade of prosperity, Jeep introduced three outstanding, best-in-class new models: the Jeep Renegade, Jeep Compass, and Jeep Cherokee. The launches of these new lines of Jeep was a strategic success, and all three have been going strong even since.
REDESIGNED JEEP CHEROKEE: The first model which helped ensure Jeep’s success in the 2010s was the resurrected model, Jeep Cherokee, introduced back onto the market in 2014. It replaced the Jeep Liberty model and re-shaped the midsize segment. It redefined the midsize with best-in-class 4×4 capability and with a revitalized exterior appearance along with updated interior features. Cherokee is the first midsize SUV to offer as standard a nine-speed automatic transmission on all trims. Cherokee also introduced four models in 2014: Sport, Latitude, Limited, and the Trailhawk. The Trailhawk model features the awesome Jeep Active Drive Lock with rear locker, Selec-Speed Control with a 56:1 crawl ratio. The new modernized Jeep Cherokee helped catapult Jeep into a new direction while captivating the SUV industry.
JEEP RENEGADE: Jeep made another styling leap when it introduced the Jeep Renegade in 2014. The Jeep Renegade was Jeep’s first compact SUV. Taking cues from the iconic Wrangler, the Jeep Renegade took a few features like the seven-slot grille and round headlamps, yet it introduces its very own refreshing style while celebrating Jeep’s heritage. The Jeep Renegade displays best-in-class 4×4 capability with an available disconnecting rear axle and low range Power Transfer Unit. Also, it features the world’s first nine-gear automatic transmission for the compact SUV class. One of the awesome interior features in the available My Sky dual-panel roof and slew of other technologies once found only in upper-segment vehicles.
JEEP COMPASS: In 2017, the all-new Jeep Compass was introduced with a fresh, redesigned and sculpted exterior and interior design. The Compass is a very capable crossover at an affordable price. Built on FCA’s trademark “small, wide 4×4 architecture,” the Jeep Compass combines best-in-class 4×4 capability with superb on-road handling and functionality. The Jeep Compass is powered by the reliable 2.4-liter TigerShark Multiair Engine, coupled with a six-speed manual transmission, giving both awesome 4×4 capability and on-road fuel economy. Two intelligent 4×4 Systems are available for the Jeep Compass: the Jeep Active Drive with full-time four-wheel drive, and Jeep Active Drive Low, a class-exclusive full-time 4×4 system with 20:1 crawl ratio. Either one will get the job done, no sweat!
