Alligator Run
County Road 2211 East, Tatum, Texas 75691 (1 hour and 6 minutes)
Alligator Run is a fantastic place for beginners and experienced off-roaders alike! The largest off-road park in Texas, it has mud pits, sand dunes, obstacle courses, drag races, and more. It’s open Friday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. — to visit on a weekday, be sure to call ahead at 903-522-1901.
Barnwell Mountain Recreational Area
6284 N. SH 155, Gilmer, Texas 75645 (1 hour and 27 minutes)
This 1,850-acre park was the first property to be established by the Texas Motorized Trail Coalition and is home to all kinds of off-roading fun. Not only do they have miles of trails and frequent events for 4×4 vehicles, but they also have excellent trails for dirt bikes and other OHVs. The park is open from 12-10 p.m. on Thursdays, 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

Catahoula Recreation
905 Bend Road, Sicily Island, Louisiana 71368 (2 hours and 33 minutes)
This gorgeous piece of land is located near the Sicily Island Wildlife Reserve and is designed specifically for Jeeps and off-road trucks. It’s a great place to tear up the trails, but it also offers some fantastic camping spots. Catahoula Recreation is open by appointment only, unless they are hosting an off-roading event. You can also invest in an annual membership for unlimited weekend fun!
