Get Your Car Ready for Fall with These Simple Upgrades

September 17th, 2024 by

A Jeep explores the trails with beautiful fall foliage surrounding it.

Fall is here! With its arrival comes cooler, crisper air, fall festivals, pumpkin-flavored everything, and the return of football and tailgating. Fall is also a great time to evaluate your current daily driver and see if you have room for improvement. Not every care upgrade needs to be a huge investment; there are lots of small ways that you can improve the look and comfort of your car without spending thousands of dollars.

Here are a few simple upgrades that anyone can make to their vehicle to add style and prepare for trips to see fall foliage or your next tailgating party!

Ready to Update Your Vehicle? Learn the Benefits of Updating

Seat and Steering Wheel Covers

Your stock seats can sometimes be great as is, with stunning leather material and exciting patterns and colors. They can also sometimes be pretty basic. That’s where seat covers come in handy. These inexpensive options can add style to your basic stock seating, transforming them into racing-inspired stripes, faux leather materials, or fun and whimsical fuzzy seating! You can even add some functionality to your fun with water-resistant and spill-proof seating. So the next time you accidentally spill your morning coffee on the way to work, you can rest easy knowing that your seats are protected. You don’t need to spend a fortune to upgrade your seating, either; most seat covers are inexpensive and can be bought online or at auto parts stores. You can even order them with us at the Parts Counter at Hebert’s Town and Country CDJR in Shreveport!

Similar to seat covers, steering wheel covers add comfort and flair to your vehicle’s interior. You can find steering wheel covers in many materials, including faux leather, neoprene, or fun and fuzzy to match your seat covers!

Window Tinting

With cooler temperatures arriving, tinting your windows in the fall might seem like the wrong season. However, even with the temperatures dropping, a tint on your windows can still provide much-needed relief from the sun’s intensity. Tinted windows are also ideal for added privacy and protection to your vehicle. With darker windows, it’s harder for prying eyes to see inside your vehicle. Window tinting can be done from home with a DIY window tinting kit. However, we recommend seeing a professional window tinting business to get your windows tinted by a skilled crew.

USB Charging

If you own an older vehicle, you might not have the built-in USB ports that many newer models have. If that’s the case, it’s easy to upgrade your car with USB power, especially if you own a vehicle that includes an older cigarette lighter or auxiliary power outlet. Let’s be real; there’s nothing worse than going on a long road trip and having your phone die because there’s no place in your car to charge. That’s where the USB adapter comes in, providing an easy and convenient way to charge your favorite devices — from phones to tablets to even game systems — when you’re on a long drive. USB adapters are relatively inexpensive and can be found at most stores. You can even check out a wireless charging pad to keep your device charged without plugging it in!

Backup Camera/Dashcam

Like USB charging, most modern vehicles come equipped with backup cameras to help you back out of parking spots and better see what’s behind your vehicle. That’s due to a federal law in 2018 that required all new cars to be built with backup cameras to reduce accidents. However, many older model vehicles don’t have this helpful technology. But you’re in luck! Backup cameras, like USB adapters, can be purchased and installed in your vehicle, no matter what year your car was released. Most aftermarket backup cameras can be bought and installed yourself, if you have a little knowledge of electronics and wiring. But you can also purchase a backup camera and have it professionally installed by a dealership. If you do buy a backup camera, we recommend bringing it by our Parts and Service Department to have it professionally installed.

Another camera technology similar to a backup camera is a dashcam. Dashcams are much easier to install than backup cameras since most sit on top of your dash and plug directly into a USB port. However, for more premium models, we recommend that you get them professionally installed.

Decals

We’ve been talking a lot about your vehicle’s interior, so let’s move outside and discuss a simple upgrade for your exterior that will make your car pop with personality! Decals are a great way to personalize your car’s exterior. You can add racing stripes, flames, numbers, or whatever fun decals you want to make your car scream “you!”

Many decals can be bought in-store or online and applied at home. However, just like window tinting and backup cameras, if you’re looking for a professional-quality body wrap or other decal job, then it’s best to turn to professionals.
